Undies for Connie

We just ran the Undie5000 in memory of Paul's mom who died from colon cancer. It was an absolute blast!! We were among the only people actually wearing just underwear, and we won the best team uniform award. Heck yeah!!

Posing for Rockstar.

The biggest tighty whities on the planet!

Supergirls (thanks for the undies, Kasia)

Team: Undies for Connie :-). Me, Laurie, Paul, Kelly

Finishing strong.

*I must also note that Paul was the ONLY guy in tighty whities. Rock on!

The lesser of two evils.

Let's see, what frustrates me more: cleaning up someone else's filth, or living in someone else's filth?? I'd say the latter.

So, I clean. I clean the leftovers in the yard from the pinata, all the red cups, the cigarette butts and boxes, the empty cans and bottles, the empty wrappers, and the overflowing trash and recycling cans.

Fortunately, cleaning serves as a release for me--but next time, I certainly wouldn't mind a little notice before there's a huge party at my house that would compel me to lock myself in my room.

Two-Can-Sam

I had a rum and coke last night. SINGULAR. I don't remember much after it.

Really??? Am I really that much of a lite weight???

Yeah. I am. And it was significantly embarrassing. Thank goodness I was in good company.

Life changing.

So, Ty picked me up to leave for our trip at 7:00 pm, Friday night. We got the kids (all two of them) and headed on our way. The three girls who had registered to go bailed at the last minute, and that caused Ty a great deal of discouragement. Anyway, we stopped in Silverthorne for dinner, and when we got back in the car to drive through the night, the transmission chose to no longer work.

So, we drove from Silverthorne back to Denver at 25mph. Ty was calling people from church left and right trying to find an alternative car for us to use. The YL leader that had lent us the car we had was at another camp and unreachable. Finally, I called my mom, waking her up in the middle of the night and explained the situation. Ulitmately, she decided to get out of bed and drive to Denver to give us her van to take. SERIOUSLY???!!! Her doing so, however, would mean that she would need a ride home to the Springs. So, Michael, who had previously offered to come pick us up in Silverthorne if we got stuck, drove down to meet us and take my mom home.

Did I mention that this all took place at 12:30am?

Yeah, so we finally got on the road at 1:15am and Michael got home at 3:15. My goodness. I could not believe what those people did to make our trip happen--buy holy canoly am I glad that it happened!!

We had on girl and one guy on the trip, and met up with some guys from Salt Lake City while the majority of the group was from Cheyenne Mountain High School.

The time was aboslutely fantastic! We played from sun up til sun down, and had hilarious program. The speaker did not water anything down, so it was absolutely phenomenal to see how the kids as well as the leaders were all so challenged spiritually.

Wow. What a special trip!!

Ring of fire--who says Christians can't have fun??

Dancin' it up!

Lookin' good for Powell Prom

Bleh

I have been applying for jobs all morning.... I think it's time for a run.

Look at me!!

This week, I have been teaching Anna how to rollerblade. Everyday after lunch, she gets all suited up in her long volleyball socks, kneepads, wrist guards, and helmet in preparation to skate (not quite my style.) She is not, by any means, a dare devil, so this has been a big challenge for her, and I must say that she is doing rather well.

The first couple of days I just walked next to her either holding her hand or giving her the assurance that I was there to catch her. But as she grew more comfortable with it, I started long boarding in front of her. We have just been riding around the block at a walking pace.

Everytime she starts cruising, though, she'll yell, "Look at me!" and I'll turn around and reassure her that she's doing great. But yesterday, I was riding up a hill when she yelled it, and as I turned to look, my board hit a pot hole and I ate it. Whoops. Maybe flip flops and distracting surroundings aren't the best recipe for long boarding.

Weeeeee!!!

The families at Mile High Academy put together some money for me to get a new guitar.  It was so, incredibly sweet!!!   So, today, David and I went and got one, and I LOVE IT!!

Goodbye Blackberry

Yesterday I got to watch Grady golf, take Ethan to the pool, and climb around on rocks with Josh.  I took wonderful pictures of all of these events with my fun phone, but then......I left my phone on top of my car when changing my shoes that had been drenched by the creek.  When we found it, it had been run over by a car :-(--but not before Josh went through the creek with his phone in his pocket thus ruining it.

Sad day for phones.

Good day.

Today I fell in love. With a house. I named it La Petite Askew (I know it's not proper French, Alli. Hee.) The whole thing is crooked, and I LOVE IT! My mom and I day dreamed about where I would put my Steinway, and what colors I would paint the walls. Upstairs there is a loft that is a perfect reading room. It has a door to the roof with a view of Pike's peak. The best part is that this house was my daddy's project. It was sinking, so he had to raise it. It is crooked and he straightened it to the best of his ability. It is an old house downtown Colorado Springs, and I so wish I could make it my own.

Anyway, after working on cleaning it for a while, my mom took me to a nice lunch. I so love spending time with her :-).

This is the patio of the restaurant where we ate.

The spiral staircase to the reading room.

The house :-). I'll paint it white with blue trim.

My sweet mom.

My delicious Margarita.

This was a good day. Love you mom!

I think the Carpenters nailed it. Ha!

This is just such a cute song, and just happens to be how I feel today. Heehee :-):

What do you get when you fall in love?
A guy with a pin to burst your bubble.
That's what you get for all your trouble,
I'll never fall in love again.
I'll never fall in love again.

What do you get when you kiss a guy?
You get enough germs to catch pneumonia.
After you do, he'll never phone you,
I'll never fall in love again.
I'll never fall in love again.

What do you get when you fall in love?
You get enough tears to fill an ocean,
That's what you get for your devotion,
I'll never fall in love again.
I'll never fall in love again.

What do you get when you fall in love?
You only get lies and pain and sorrow,
So, for at least until tomorrow,
I'll never fall in love again.
I'll never fall in love again.

Best Concert Ever!!

We finished the school year off with a steel band gig a the Cherokee Ranch and Castle.   It was amazing.  The band was perfect, the audience was hysterical (and eventually actually danced), and the location was absolutely spectacular!!  I could have not asked for a more perfect way to end the school year.

The front of the castle.

The Louis XIV bed.  They would shoot you if you sat on it.

View of Pike's to the south.

Long's to the north (they have 3100 acres).

Off the back porch.

The awesome band! From left to right: Tod, Mike, Tom, Mark, Chris, Paul, and Kelsey.  (Plus a couple of tipsy birthday girls.)
